PT Bayan Resources Tbk (BYAN) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kutai Kartanegara University to provide full scholarships for 70 new students every year recently.

Through the provision of these scholarships, BYAN will distribute a total aid value of IDR 16.6 billion for 4 academic years, starting from 2022/2023 to 2025/2026 through its CSR Program entitled “Bayan Cares for Education”.

BYAN’s Director of Operations, Lim Chai Hock said, this scholarship program is a form of Bayan’s support to help create future leaders.

“We hope that, through this scholarship program, students who do not have the opportunity to study, can continue their education to higher education, with the hope that after graduating from college, they can make a positive contribution to the nation,” he said in a press release received by Kontan.co.id.

The scholarship target includes outstanding students and also economically disadvantaged students, by giving priority to students from the mining operation area of PT Bayan Resources Tbk.

In the first phase, namely the 2022 – 2023 academic year, there will be around 70 scholarship recipients. This number will increase to 280 students in the 2025/2026 academic year.

BYAN management said that the signing of the scholarship cooperation with Kutai Kartanegara University is the first step to expand cooperation with other universities in the future. The form of Bayan Peduli Pendidikan Scholarship provided includes education costs and living expenses, trainings to improve the skills of students.

Rector of Kutai Kartanegara University, appreciated Bayan’s steps in providing opportunities for students, especially East Kalimantan Province, to develop their full competence and potential.
